BBC Weather Forecast: UK Areas Expected to Experience Snow Before Sunday Night

The BBC Weather team has released a detailed forecast highlighting the UK areas likely to face snow before the weekend. On Wednesday, February 11, BBC Weather reported “prolonged spells of rain pushing northwards across northern areas with heavier rain and hill snow in Scotland.”

Snow is expected not only in the Scottish hills but also further south, with flurries anticipated in multiple regions. The five-day forecast, covering February 11 to 16, outlines a mix of rain, wind, and wintry showers across the country.

For the short term on February 11, the forecast states: “Briefly bright in the south, with further cloud and rain later. Tonight will be cloudy for most, with patchy rain in the north turning into snow over the hills. Southern areas will be mostly cloudy with showers. Windy conditions are expected in the north and along Channel coasts.”

The BBC has identified several areas expected to see snow before the weekend concludes, including much of northern England and Scotland.

Looking ahead to Thursday, the forecast continues: “Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy and wet, with rain moving across England and Wales. Northern England and Scotland will experience showers, with snow falling over the hills. Winds will be strong in the south-west.”

From Friday to Sunday, weather conditions will vary: “Friday may bring spells of rain and hill snow across the southern half of the UK, with snow showers pushing into northern and eastern coastal areas throughout the day. Saturday is expected to be a crisp and bright day, although some lingering wintry showers will persist on east coasts. Sunday morning will see a band of rain moving in from the west, initially falling as snow in the northern regions.”

A brief cold spell is anticipated later this week, especially impacting northern parts with wintry precipitation. Despite this, milder weather is predicted to return by next week and continue into late February, though occasional colder air may still affect Scotland intermittently.

By early March, weather conditions could become drier as high pressure potentially establishes more dominance across the UK.
