Aston Villa have refreshed their squad with several exciting young players this summer, as Unai Emery aims to build a dynamic team for the upcoming season. Following a significant spending spree exceeding £200 million to replace outgoing key players, Villa’s transfer activity focused heavily on youth and potential.
The first arrival was Johan Manzambi, who joined to fill the gap left by Morgan Rogers, whose £117 million move to Chelsea set a new record for a British player. Villa have further secured the services of Alejandro Garnacho, Nicolas Jackson, Joao Gomes, and Zion Suzuki-all regarded as talented prospects with considerable development ahead. Additionally, the deadline-day signing of Ibrahim Mbaye, only 18 years old, marks one of the most promising acquisitions of the window.
Earlier in the summer, Villa explored the possibility of bringing in Jarrod Bowen from West Ham, but the player chose to remain at his current club to contribute to their promotion efforts. Other attacking options, including Rafael Leao, were also evaluated before finalising the deal for Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain. His recruitment excites Villa supporters given his evident potential and the keen competition for his signature during the past year.

This transfer strategy aligns with Villa’s broader objective to rejuvenate the squad, especially considering that their average team age last season was the second highest in the Premier League, trailing only Fulham. Real Madrid’s Brazilian talent Endrick was also of interest to Villa this summer. The 17-year-old striker was open to a loan move, attracting attention from Aston Villa and AS Roma alike. However, a meeting with coach Jose Mourinho has resulted in Endrick remaining at Real Madrid until at least January. There remains potential for a loan transfer in the winter window after his impressive stint at Lyon last season, where he scored and assisted 16 times in 21 appearances across all competitions.
In the meantime, Villa’s squad features other young prospects, including 17-year-old centre-forward Brian Madjo, ensuring the club has ample youthful quality to compete effectively this season. Whether Villa can accommodate a player of Endrick’s calibre in January remains to be seen, but the club has undoubtedly taken significant steps to strengthen their team with emerging talents.
