Aston Villa Receive Clear Signal on Jadon Sancho’s Transfer Intentions and Salary Willingness for Summer Move

Jadon Sancho, currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, is reportedly eager to return to Borussia Dortmund this summer, even if it means accepting a reduced salary. According to The Athletic, the winger is prepared to take a pay cut to facilitate a potential free transfer to Dortmund once his contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season.

Sancho has a strong history at Dortmund, having made 158 appearances across two spells with the club. His current loan with Aston Villa has been productive, notably helping the team advance to the Europa League quarter-finals after a key performance against Lille at Villa Park.

Despite Manchester United holding an option to extend Sancho’s contract by a year, it seems likely that his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end. Meanwhile, Aston Villa have yet to decide whether they will attempt to sign Sancho permanently this summer.

The club’s transfer budget will depend heavily on their final Premier League standing and which European competitions they qualify for next season. Villa manager Unai Emery recently hinted at the club’s interest but also acknowledged competition from other teams. “He will need another contract, and maybe it could be here,” Emery said. “If he plays his best football, we will want him. But other teams could also be interested in him. This is football, and each match is important for every player’s and the club’s future, and for how we can achieve our objectives.”

Dortmund had briefly been linked with Sancho last summer before his move to Villa. With the team planning to shift back to a winger-based formation under Niko Kovac, the path could be clearer for Sancho’s potential return. Beyond Germany, clubs from Italy and Turkey are also reportedly showing interest in the England international.
