Armed Police Respond to Reports of Man with Knife Near Asda in Oldham

Armed police units were mobilized near an Asda supermarket in Oldham after reports surfaced about a man brandishing a large knife. The incident occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, when a member of the public alerted authorities about a threatening individual outside the store on Huddersfield Road.

Officers, both armed and unarmed, quickly converged on Littlemoor Lane, concentrating their efforts on a single nearby property. Despite the significant police presence, no arrests were made, and no weapons were recovered at the scene.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed, “At around 12:45 p.m. on March 3, 2026, we responded to reports of an aggressive male on Huddersfield Road in Oldham. Officers attended promptly and determined that the man made verbal threats before leaving the area. Investigations are ongoing.”
