All Birmingham Secondary Schools Rated ‘Well Below Average’ in New National League Table

A recent league table ranking nearly 3,500 secondary schools across the country has highlighted several Birmingham schools performing poorly, with a handful labelled ‘well below average’ by education experts.

The comprehensive assessment, conducted by the Telegraph, evaluated schools on key factors including exam results, attendance rates, and class sizes. Each institution received a score out of 40, reflecting its overall effectiveness.

Among the lowest scorers in Birmingham were Bournville School, Star King Solomon Academy, and Waverley Studio College, each receiving only 12 out of 40. E-ACT Shenley Academy followed closely behind with a score of 13. Notably, Star King Solomon Academy has recently been reported to be making progress after a positive Ofsted inspection.

On the positive end of the spectrum, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys led Birmingham’s rankings with an impressive 39 out of 40 score. Its counterpart, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls, also delivered strong results with a score of 38. Other top-performing schools included King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School for Boys and St Paul’s School for Girls, each scoring 38, as well as King Edward VI Five Ways School and King Edward VI Lordswood School for Girls, both achieving 37.

These rankings provide a detailed look at educational performance across Birmingham, highlighting areas that require improvement as well as schools that set high standards.
