A tragic death has sparked a murder investigation after an 84-year-old woman was found dead at a home in Prees Higher Heath, Shropshire. West Mercia Police responded to reports of concern for safety at a property on Woodlands Grove around 3:05 pm on Tuesday, January 27.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the elderly woman, who was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. An 80-year-old man at the scene was arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently receiving treatment in hospital for serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.
Detective Inspector Joanne Delahay of the Major Investigation Unit in Shropshire expressed condolences to the victim’s family, saying, “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who has sadly lost her life today. We understand this incident may cause concern within the community, but we want to reassure residents that it appears to be an isolated event with no ongoing public risk.”
