15-Year-Old Charged Following Stabbing Incident at Merry Hill Shopping Centre

A 15-year-old boy has been charged after a stabbing took place at Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill, West Midlands.

The incident occurred on Friday, November 28, when police were called to the shopping centre following reports that a 17-year-old boy had been attacked. The victim sustained a minor cut to his back as a result of the assault.

Authorities have charged a 15-year-old, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, with assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He is scheduled to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on December 17.

Meanwhile, three other individuals—a 16-year-old, an 18-year-old, and a 19-year-old—were arrested on suspicion of affray and wounding but have since been released on bail pending further investigation.

West Midlands Police continue to investigate the incident and are appealing for anyone with additional information to come forward by contacting 101 and quoting reference number 20/458619/25.

A police spokesperson said: “A teenager is due to appear in court after a 17-year-old was attacked at Merry Hill. We responded swiftly to reports of a knife attack, resulting in a small injury to the victim’s back. Our inquiries are ongoing, and we encourage anyone with information to assist our investigation.”

Enhanced police presence will be maintained throughout the festive period to uphold security.”
