UK households equipped with smart meters now have a unique opportunity to receive free electricity during the May bank holiday weekend. Uswitch.com is offering to reimburse electricity usage between 8am and 4pm for up to eight hours, with payments reaching up to £10.
Participants can select their preferred day—Saturday, May 2; Sunday, May 3; or Monday, May 4—to benefit from this offer. Natalie Mathie, energy expert at Uswitch.com, explains, “Energy costs are a concern for everyone right now, so we hope many households will take advantage of our small gift of free electricity for the first May bank holiday weekend.”
Whether tackling spring cleaning, doing laundry, or preparing meals for loved ones, households can effectively earn back their electricity expenses. This initiative is open to all UK energy customers with compatible smart meters, regardless of their energy supplier.
To participate, households need to connect their smart meter to the Uswitch mobile app and sign up for the Power Hours program—Uswitch’s free energy-saving scheme—by April 29. Existing customers are limited to 25,000 spots, while there is no limit for new customers.
After selecting a preferred day through the app, Uswitch will track electricity usage during the active 8am to 4pm window on that day. Earnings will be calculated and credited by the end of May, with funds transferable directly to participants’ bank accounts via the app.
Spaces are limited, so interested households are encouraged to download the Uswitch app and register promptly to secure their free electricity during the bank holiday.
