Sedgley Actor Spencer Elcock Realizes Dream Starring in Peaky Blinders Film The Immortal Man

Spencer Elcock, a 23-year-old actor from Sedgley in the Black Country, has fulfilled a lifelong dream by featuring as a member of the Peaky Blinders gang in the newly released film, The Immortal Man. The movie premiered in cinemas in March and is now available for streaming on Netflix.

Growing up in the West Midlands, Spencer was deeply inspired by the original Peaky Blinders TV series, which showcased local landmarks and launched numerous acting careers. He said, “It’s been a dream come true to act alongside such talented actors and see familiar locations on screen.”

Residing now in nearby Seisdon, Spencer has felt overwhelming support from his community. “Friends and people around the West Midlands have been messaging me after spotting me in the credits or scenes. It feels like the entire region is cheering me on,” he shared.

Parts of The Immortal Man were filmed at iconic West Midlands spots, including the Black Country Living Museum, Bumble Hole Nature Reserve in Netherton, Birmingham’s canals, and the new Digbeth studios.

Elcock appears early in the film and features in several pivotal scenes, including the dramatic climax set on barges in Charlie’s yard. “Being on set with multiple cameras and so many gifted actors was incredible,” he said.

He expressed admiration for his co-stars, particularly Cillian Murphy, an Oscar winner, and Emmy-winning Stephen Graham. “Despite their fame, they are humble, approachable, and masters of their craft. Being surrounded by such professionals so early in my career is truly inspiring,” Spencer said.

Spencer’s girlfriend, actor Neve McCormick from Lichfield, organized a special screening of The Immortal Man in March at The Royal Cinema in Sutton Coldfield. The event celebrated the efforts of the cast and crew, though most of the main cast could not attend. Neve noted a warm exchange with Packy Lee, who played Johnny Dogs, highlighting the camaraderie behind the scenes.

Although Spencer didn’t initially plan on an acting career during his school years, his passion for performance emerged over time. Encouraged by mentors, he earned a place at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and secured his role in The Immortal Man during his third year.

Now graduated, Spencer plans to relocate to London to advance his acting career. He is set to appear in another film, The Wind Of Change, a biopic about German rock band Scorpions, playing real-life drummer Wolfgang. The cast also features Alexander Dreymon, known for The Last Kingdom.

Neve summed up her pride in Spencer’s journey: “He has worked tirelessly through university to graduate as an actor. Now his career is just beginning, and there’s so much more to come.”
