National Express West Midlands Announces Updates to 14 Key Bus Routes

National Express West Midlands is set to implement changes affecting 14 of its key bus routes across the region, effective Sunday, March 29. The updates include revised timetables aimed at enhancing service reliability, as well as the transfer or withdrawal of three routes from the company’s network.

Several routes will see timetable adjustments primarily focused on improving punctuality and responding to customer feedback. For example, the Five Ways to Acocks Green Village (Route 1) and QE Hospital to Buckland End (Route 41) services have been revised following the completion of works in Moseley. Routes serving Wolverhampton and surrounding areas, including Routes 11, 16, and 16A, will operate on updated schedules designed to boost reliability. Other routes such as Route 60, connecting Birmingham to Cranes Park, will benefit from increased frequency specifically in the Small Heath area.

Additional Monday to Saturday morning journeys are being introduced on Route 80 between Birmingham and West Bromwich, while routes X1 and X2, serving Birmingham to Coventry and Solihull respectively, will also have revised timetables to ensure more consistent service.

Importantly, three services will no longer be operated by National Express West Midlands. Route 27 from Great Park to Solihull will now be run by Diamond Buses. Meanwhile, Routes 78 and 78A, serving Sutton Coldfield to Streetly and The Queslett, will cease National Express operations altogether.

These adjustments aim to provide a more reliable and responsive service for bus passengers across the West Midlands.
