A startling incident unfolded on Burney Lane in Washwood Heath, Birmingham, when a speeding vehicle lost control and crashed into multiple front gardens, leaving significant destruction in its wake. The driver slammed the car into brick walls, metal gates, wheelie bins, and parked vehicles near the Shahi Masala restaurant around 10:30 am on Monday, March 16.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but local residents were horrified as two men exited the damaged vehicle calmly and fled the scene on foot.
One of the hardest-hit homes belongs to Tariq Hussain, a taxi driver and father of four, who was out shopping during the crash. Returning quickly, he discovered severe damage to his Toyota Estima and garden gates. He remarked, “I was shocked. They’ve smashed the gate, and we’re now waiting on insurance.”

Nearby, 82-year-old Sabir Hussain was resting in his lounge when the crash shook his home. Alarmed by the loud bang, he rushed outside to find bricks scattered everywhere. “I thought the roof had collapsed. My car, wall, and gate are all damaged. We’re struggling to clear it,” he shared.
Another resident, Mohammed Hafeez, 40, expressed disbelief at the dangerous situation: “It’s crazy. I’m surprised nobody lost their life—it could’ve happened so easily.”
West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Officers confirmed that two men left the vehicle before police arrived and are currently working to identify them. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact them via phone at 101 or through the Live Chat on their website, referencing log 1465 of March 16.
