NCP, a well-known name in UK parking services for over 90 years, has entered administration, casting uncertainty over numerous car parks nationwide. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been appointed as joint administrators tasked with stabilizing the business and exploring strategic alternatives, including a potential sale.
The company, which employs 682 staff members and is recognizable by its iconic black and yellow signage, continues to operate all car parks and retain employees while PwC assesses the company’s future. PwC partner and joint administrator Zelf Hussain highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by NCP: “NCP has encountered a difficult trading environment over recent years. Changing consumer behaviors have impacted car park usage, while high fixed costs have contributed to significant trading losses.”
Efforts to curb losses included cost-cutting measures such as workforce restructuring and pursuing new developments aimed at boosting revenue. However, these measures have not fully offset structural losses.
