Following a ‘summary’ review requested by West Midlands Police, Birmingham City Council’s licensing sub-committee convened on Monday, December 1, to assess the future of U Wish Lounge’s operating license. Superintendent Karl Thomas expressed serious concerns about the venue’s ability to safeguard patrons, stating that the establishment failed to uphold key licensing objectives.

As a result, the licensing sub-committee decided to suspend the venue’s premises license for 28 days. Additionally, it ordered the removal of the designated premises supervisor, Harpreet Singh, pending a full license review.

The police continue to investigate the incident and have appealed to the public for information or witnesses who can assist. Anyone with details has been urged to contact West Midlands Police on 101, citing crime number 20/457812/25, or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that two men were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene before being taken to hospital for further evaluation.

The temporary closure of U Wish Lounge underscores the city’s commitment to maintaining safe entertainment spaces and protecting residents from violent crimes.
