Birmingham Airport Cancels Multiple Flights Amid Middle East Crisis – March 26

Birmingham Airport (BHX) has announced the cancellation of several flights today, Thursday, March 26, due to the continuing conflict in the Middle East. The airport, a vital hub for travel to the Gulf states, has suspended select arrivals and departures, including flights to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The disruption follows four weeks of heightened tensions sparked by the Iran-US-Israel conflict. While US President Donald Trump insists Iran remains interested in negotiation despite the rejection of a US ceasefire proposal, Tehran has made it clear that it intends to end the conflict on its own terms.

An anonymous Iranian official, quoted by Iranian state television, stated that Tehran dismissed a ceasefire offer transmitted via Pakistan, insisting that the war will conclude only when their conditions are met.

Today, flight disruptions continue at BHX, with Emirates flights to Dubai being cancelled:

  • 18:45 – EK 037 to Dubai – Emirates
  • 20:50 – EK 038 to Dubai – Emirates

BHX advises all passengers traveling to or from the Middle East to verify the status of their flights directly with their airlines before heading to the airport.

Earlier on Thursday, President Trump suggested that Iranian negotiators were hesitant to engage openly in talks due to fears for their safety from internal factions, stating, “They want to make a deal so badly, but they’re afraid to say it because they figure they’ll be killed by their own people.” He also warned that the US was prepared for a more forceful response if Iran refuses to back down. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized that while the president prefers a peaceful resolution, he is ready to take unprecedented action if necessary.
